Silly question: why did they make the roads so narrow? and the parking on the street - I would think that there would be more accidents.
ReplyDeleteI am not exactly sure why the roads are so narrow. I have some theories though. First of all, there aren't that many people here and the roads deal with traffic ok. Then, they take care of nature as much as possible and extra roads means stealing from the natural environment. My third idea is that they did not plan for traffic from the beginning (not much planning 2000 years ago :)), so they emptied out as much space as possible but also made it so that the roads are built on top of the historic paths.
ReplyDeleteAs for the parking on the street -- I do not see many accidents, but the speed limits are much lower than in the US, so there is time to react.
