Inside the Sooneck Castle/

Let's walk inside the castle. It's only one floor, everything else is off limits to visitors. First we need to put on the felt flip-flops. No need to take shoes off. It's pretty chilly in the castle, I can't imagine how they heated the place before.

This is the first room any visitor gets to see. Very nice. Click for larger picture.

Here you can read some more about the history of the castle. Basically it says that someone did something some time ago.

Here is a picture of the King of Prussia Frederick William III. It is said that the left foot of the man on the picture is always pointed at you regardless of where you stand in the room.

Looks so.

Yep, can't run away from it.

Here is the other room worth noting. Sooneck Castle is not too big on the inside.

The Sooneck Castle/

On a shore of the beautiful Rhine stands the Sooneck Castle. Let's stop by. First, we need to get there.

Here is a little preview of the castle.

Nice welcoming sign.

Approaching the castle. It's at least 500 years old.

Castle's tower.

The view from the castle

And the other parts of the castle.

Next time we'll go inside the castle's tower.

Walking around a German village/

These houses remind me of old movies. Nevertheless, all the houses are real.

Europe in DC/

It seems like European architecture, but no, it's the US.

Obama's garden/

Still there for now.

Really, it's by the White House.

Castle ruins/

There are many old castles in Germany. Some are in better shape, some are not so much. Today we are visiting one of the oldest (built in 13th century) castles, castle Lichtenberg. Not much is left to see, but it's a pretty view from the hill. The church is still operational, there is something for the youth, and the tower is open, where you can climb to the fourth floor (no elevator) and enjoy the view (very windy though!). Let's walk around.

Buckingham Palace/

Here it is:

And here is one of the famous guards. The guards themselves are not famous, but their uniforms, mostly tall hats, are the source of attention.

The dude went for a little walk to stretch his legs.

The gates.

The palace square.

And this is what the palace looks like from the garden side. The palace is open for visits two months out of the year and anyone can come inside and feel like any other person who came to see the Royals. It's very pretty on the inside, lots of pictures and beautiful interiors, but no photographs are allowed.

Going further through the garden, here is a peek at the palace.

And here are some more guards. They don't exactly look as the palace guards, and these are on horses, and they are not exactly going to the palace. Nevertheless, they are horse-back riding in the middle of the busy city, holding the traffic. There must be a reason...
