German food/

It's better not look at it when you're hungry...

That is a salad with salmon, steak, and baked cheese.

And this is a schnitzel salad.

Even though the dishes are seasonal, the restaurant still serves delicious food year-round. The address is below.

Competitive Barbeque/

Competitive BBQ teams get together in DC in summer, it's hot enough outside, and the charcoal makes it even hotter. But it tastes great!

And this all is not far away from...

Christmas markets/

Christmas markets in Germany start at the end of November. Big cities hold them continuously through Christmas (even though after Christmas they hold "New Year's" markets and then post-New-Year's until about January 6), little towns and villages hold weekend celebrations. These photos are a mixture of multiple markets, which start to blur together after a while. The food and drinks, however, are always fresh and hot (or cold, depends on your choice). These pictures are from the 2014 market in Dusseldorf and Trier, as well as from 2015 markets in Speyer and Kaiserslautern.

Food is everywhere. And the food is not the purpose of the market, but more of a point to refuel to go have fun further with friends. Food is good though.

The markets usually take place in the central square, so not only it's interesting, but also pretty.

Some vendors sell cool things. These could be the very first ever 3D pictures.

Here they are frying ham, potatoes and mushrooms on huge iron pans.

Holiday for the entire family. Adults get to drink "gluhwein," which is a hot slightly-alcoholic drink. Kids get their version, a non-alcoholic warm drink too. Everything is sold in nice holiday cups that have the year and a place imprinted on them. For every drink, every customer pays a deposit between 2 and 3 Euro, and if anyone wants to keep their cup -- no hard feelings, they just walk away with it. If you return the cup, you get the money back.

Here we have sausage.

Here are the goodies closer and the prices.

Here we have something with apples.

And here is an interesting thing: melted cheese sandwich. So the black L-shaped thing on the counter is a heater that melts the cheese right underneath it. The lady is making a sandwich and preparing to put cheese on it.

And then she puts the melted cheese on top of the sandwich.

Booze.

More sandwiches.

Sweets.

More booze.

Same.

То же.

Little pies with sauce.

More warming substances.

More cookies and sweets.

Potatoes with onions or cabbage and ham.

Ham cooking.

More sweets.

So pretty.

Now here is a special treat from a special correspondent of ours: the Moscow Christmas Market, straight from the Red Square:

Pancakes for sale on the right, the dude on the left sells sucking candy. He is dressed appropriately for the winter.

Here you can get some hot Belgian waffles with a choice of strawberry/cherry/caramel/maple syrup or chocolate. The cost is 200 roubles, which is less than 4 dollars at today's exchange rate. Also you can get a hot tea (for a dollar), tea with lemon, ginger, and sea buckthorn (it's a type of berry, has nothing to do with any seas, costs about 2 dollars), or tea with the flavor of wild berries and pine cones (that's what it says! costs about 2 dollars). Finally, you can get a "Christmas drink", for four dollars.

As you can see on the picture, the cup is not as festive as in Germany, but the wine is warm and pancakes are good.

A special thanks to our special correspondent. You know who you are!

London: food/

Food is an important part of traveling. Let's begin with breakfast. Here is a nice little place. You cannot take a table until you place your order. The system works.

This is what's called an "English Breakfast." The one that comes with the English Breakfast tea, although coffee made a come back in London lately. Anyway, a typical English breakfast consists of fries, sausage, bacon, eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms.

For a lighter breakfast, there are "2 eggs on 2 toasts."

And this is already lunch or dinner, depends on the appetite. This is bacon-wrapped chicken with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Simple and delicious.

This is fish and chips. Although it looks like a chip, not chips, it's still tender and juicy on the inside.

And this is ham and Yorkshire pudding. As it turns out, pudding is the peas in bread concoction.

This is lamb and vegetables.

And this was one of the best parts -- a pie. Tender pastry dough and a variety of fillings. Menu below.

This is the menu for the pie place.

Pubs, besides drinks, offer the best and most interesting things to eat in the UK. Pretty much any pub can be a good place to eat. Like this "The Jugged Hare" pub, for example:
