Inside the samurai houses/

This post continues the previous article about samurai houses. Before we came into each house, we had to take the shoes off. I already wrote about how to figure out whether one needs to take shoes off or not here. This picture shows where the guide sits. When you enter a house, there is a mini desk (that means you actually sit on the floor) and there is a person sitting at it. He/she makes sure the guests respect the rule of the house, and answers any questions.

This picture shows a traditional Japanese room. There is not much furniture, and there are tatami on the floor. Tatami is a traditional floor mat, made of bamboo. The pink bucket on the floor is for water, because the roof was leaking.

The side rooms.

This side storage area had a drum in it.

Here and further down you can see the cooking amenities.

One house had a picture on the wall.
