Tsunami aftermath, cleaning/

We volunteered to go out and help the local community clean up after tsunami. We live far from the epicenter of the events, so we did not have to clean up too much, but still, seeing how the thick trees were moved and damaged led us to thinking how strong the wave was in our area. We also began to realize how strong the tsunami was in Sendai area. We watched the videos, but it felt much different being on site where it actually happened.

This area has mostly been cleaned, but lots of work remain to remove trash.

After we got done, local people gave us free apples. And once we got on the bus, they waved good-bye as we were leaving. Very nice!
