Japanese car license plates/

Here is an example of a typical Japanese car license plate. It contains the following elements (left to right, top to bottom):

1. Place that issued the license plate. In this case the plate was issued in the Iwate prefecture (岩手).
2. Car classification. "500" means that it is a small passenger car with the engine size not more than 2000 cc.
3. Letter わ and numbers 75-63 is the actual car number. License plates with the letter わ are only issued to rental vehicles.

  2. Oh yeah... there is a million different brands here, it is almost impossible to know them all. It seems like they are creating a new brand every new year. Interesting question, let me check on that :)
