Aomori Nebuta festival (day parade)/Фестиваль Небута в Аомори (дневной парад)

The fence is decorated with apples, it means that we are very close to the Aomori city, which is considered to be the apple capital of Japan.

We are going to see the Nebuta festival parade (official web site, in English). In short, Nebuta is a float built on a wooden base and decorated with figures made of Japanese paper. It is lit up from the inside and putting the float on the water symbolizes the purification of the soul by sending the evil spirits out to sea.

The festivities always start on August 1, regardless of what day of the week it is, with an evening celebration. Then there is a night parade every night until August 7. On August 7, the last day of the festival, there is the day parade, then the jury decides what floats were the best this year and the festival concludes with putting the best floats on boats and making them float around for many spectators to see along with the beautiful fireworks display. I will have a series of posts about the festival, and I will start with the day parade that happened in 2010.

Затем жюри выбирает лучшие плоты, и уже вечером лучшие плоты совершают свое путешествие под залпы фейерверка по заливу Аомори в присутствии десятков тысяч зрителей. Про фестиваль Небута будет несколько записей, и рассказ начнется с дневного парада, который прошел в 2010-м году.

Then the Hakodate representatives join the parade. Hakodate is the city in the northernmost Japanese prefecture, Hokkaido. They are easily recognized by squid, their mascot.

Затем идут гости -- делегация из города Хакодате, который находится в самой северной префектуре Японии, Хоккайдо. Их легко узнать по их символу -- кальмару.

They are doing the squid dance.
