Hirosaki Castle Museum/

There is a museum inside the castle, and it has a lot of interesting things. Since there was no guide around to ask, I will describe them to the best of my understanding.

This is the box for a samurai sword.

And this is a sword.

Here are some other kinds of weapons, as well as some armor.

Some helmets. The swastika on the red helmet has nothing to do with the Nazis. This symbol is very traditional for Japan and denotes a Buddhist temple on a map. In this case, however, it means that the owner of the helmet belongs to the army of the Tsugaru clan, a local samurai dynasty that ruled Northern Japan. In addition, the flag of Hirosaki depicts it as well.

These are the household items. The big thing on the left is the fire pit.

 Little windows.

This model shows what the area originally looked like. Now all that is left is the actual castle (top right corner of the area) and maybe some small buildings. The rest of it now is a park with over two thousand sakura trees.

There is not much room inside the castle, so the stairs are very steep.

There are pictures of other castles of Japan on the walls.

We were pleasantly surprised when we found a place that we have already visited on one of the pictures on the wall.
