Toll roads, electronic toll collection (ETC)/Платные шоссе, система автоматической оплаты за проезд (ETC)

Japan is covered with roads, and some of them, mostly highways and expressways, are not free. Some vehicles have to change several highways during their trips, so the time spent paying the toll adds up. To overcome this problem, electronic toll collection system is used widely, without a driver having to stop at all. He/she has to slow down, but there is no need to see which line is shorter, wait in line, pull over, roll the window down, find the money, and get the change back. Instead, the car has to be equipped with an ETC device, the driver has to choose the specially marked lane that does the payments via ETC, and ... see the video for details.

В Японии очень много дорог, и некоторые из них, в основном шоссе, платные. Некоторым автомобилям приходится менять по несколько платных дорог за день, теряя драгоценное время. Для того, чтобы не тратить слишком много времени попусту, платные дороги оборудованы системой автоматической оплаты проезда (ETC), так что совсем останавливаться не нужно. Конечно нужно притормозить чтоб система успела сработать, но не надо стоять в очереди, ждать пока водитель впереди найдет сдачу, найти самому сдачу, положить деньги обратно. Достаточно оборудовать машину специальным прибором электронной оплаты, выехать на специально обозначенную полосу, и ... все остальные детали на видео.
