Samurai houses/

There is a former samurai district not far from the Hirosaki Castle. This is where multiple samurai used to live. They did not stay inside the castle, but they lived very close. Several houses are still preserved from old times, here is a brief tour of what the houses look like from the outside.

The short fence made of trees is a traditional attribute of a samurai house.

The gates leading to the house.

The gate from the inside of the property.

The stone walkways direct visitors.

On the outside, the houses may not look like they are being taken care of. The garden, surrounding the house, however, is in great shape. Garden, by the way, is another necessary attribute of a samurai house.

The well.

And for the comparison, these are the houses of people, who currently live in the samurai district. The only thing that changed are the houses themselves, they look much newer. Houses' surroundings, like gardens and fences, would look perfectly fine around any samurai house.
