Golden Pavilion Kinkaku-ji/

Golden Pavilion Kinkaku-ji is a world-famous place located in Kyoto. It is a Zen Buddhist temple with a garden complex around it. It is called the Golden Temple because the two top stories  are covered with pure gold leaf.

The first record of Kinkaku-ji is dated 1397. The building located here now, however, was built in 1955, after the previous building completely burned down in 1950.

This is a very beautiful, peaceful and tranquil place. The garden starts after the pavilion.

A great Japanese garden always has a waterfall.

This garden is very special: it has a round lake with a round island in the middle. There is a small pagoda in the middle of the island and there is a small bridge that leads to it from the big land.

After meditation on the lake, a cup of tea from the tea house feels especially pleasant.

And, finally, a souvenir store. There is also a place to pray, and a place to get a fortune (omikuji).
