Every resident of Aomori prefecture has been to the Oirase gorge at least once: it is a mandatory field trip. At first sight, there is nothing special about it, just a stream of cold water located in a forest. The place, however, has a special mood to it, it is very relaxing here, such that the noise from cars passing by gets drowned in the ambient sounds of forest. It is a very popular tourist place, there are buses that go up and down the road, and even though you may be surrounded by a lot of people, there is still a feeling of a one-to-one connection with nature.
There are some waterfalls along the way, and almost all of them have names, but I did not get any of those.
These pictures were taken at the end of October and most of the leaves had already fallen down. Lack of leaves on trees made it easier for the warm sun to get through the trees.
The stream falls into lake Towada, here it is on the picture. Lake Towada is the biggest crater lake in Japan.
Just interesting notes and pictures from our travels.
