London: one of the Harry Potter's places/Лондон: одно из мест Гарри Поттера

In London, inside the King's Cross station, where, according to the series of books by J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter was leaving to go to his school, there is a little place devoted to this fictional hero.

В Лондоне, на станции Кингз Кросс, откуда, по книге, уезжал на учебу Гарри Поттер, есть небольшой памятник серии книг.

You can have your picture taken as if you are going through the wall to the special platform. You can also have the glasses on and a scarf.

Здесь любого могут сфотографировать как будто он/она проходит через стену на скрытую платформу. Даже выдадут очки и шарфик.

The only thing is to wait for your turn in the line of about fifty people. Then, for a "small" fee, one can get the studio-quality picture in the nearby store. All the goods in the store are based on the items mentioned in the series of books.

Всего-то надо отстоять очередь в человек пятьдесят, а потом за "скромное" вознаграждение можно даже получить фотографию в студийном качестве в находящемся рядом магазине. Все товары в магазине так или иначе посвящены серии книг.

Stonehenge/Стоунхендж

There is an old sacred place just about an hour-and-a-half away from London. No one still knows exactly how it was used. Let's go check it out. Oh, here it is, on the right.

В полутора часах езды от Лондона находятся развалины очень древнего храма, и до сих пор неизвестно как конкретно он использовался. Поехали посмотрим что к чему. Вот он, справа.

London: transportation/Лондон: транспорт

Let's begin with trains. The train stations are spacious. This is Victoria Station.

Начнем с поездов. Вокзалы просторные. Это вокзал Виктория.

And this is Paddington.

А это -- вокзал Паддингтон.

This is the entrance to the Paddington station. It's hard to tell...

Parking in the city is very limited. Cars are parked everywhere, but only in the allowed places. Here, for example, only one car can go through at one time.

В городе ситуация с парковками сложная. Машины стоят везде где можно, но только в определенных местах. Здесь уже две машины не разъедутся.

The roads between cities are spacious and nice.

Дороги между городами широкие и ровные.

Road markings are quite understandable.

Знаки -- понятные.

Driving in the city of London can be interesting.

Рулить по Лондону местами бывает интересно.

Bus drivers have most of the driving fun.

Водителям автобусов вообще интересно.

Cabs are everywhere. Even inside the airport.
