Vatican City/

Vatican City is an unusual place to visit. On one side, it is a sovereign country, but there are no official borders, so you walk through Rome and once you set a foot on the Saint Peter's square you are in a different country.

While in the Vatican, it is worth visiting the Vatican Museums. There are many small museums there, but only one entry and it helps a lot to buy ticket online beforehand. The museums contain many interesting historic items and the interiors are pretty.

Here is a view of St. Peter's Cathedral and the Vatican City. It's a state within a city, and that is what it looks like.

Colloseum/

There are thousands of pictures of Colloseum online, so here are a couple more from me.

The place is very old, still very broken, but is still worth visiting.

Rome, Italy/Рим

There are almost no modern buildings in downtown Rome. As a matter of fact, it is prohibited to enter downtown in many Italian cities unless the car is on the special registry list. The downtowns have a special limit called ZTL, which stands for "Zona a traffico limitato" and means something like "restricted traffic zone." There are no gates that prevent anyone from entering, but if your car is not registered, prepare to get a hefty fine in the mail. Traveling in Italy by car may be problematic because of that. One has to either find a parking lot outside of ZTL or find a parking lot inside ZTL that deals with authorities and eliminates the fine. But let's go for a walk in Rome.

This monument is called Altare della Patria (Altar of the Fatherland) and it was built at the beginning of the 20th century in honor of the king Victor Emmanuel II, who united Italy.

And this is the Trevi Fountain. All in the middle of the city.

Lots of people come here every day.

This is the Pantheon. This building is almost 1900 years old. It has been used as a church since the 7th century.

The view inside.

This building is called Palazzo Madama, this is the home of Italian Senate.

And this is Piazza Navona. There used to be a stadium here long long time ago, and now it is a square in Rome with restaurants and fountains. Lots of artists sell their paintings here.

This is the "Fountain of the Four Rivers" in the middle of Piazza Navona.

Moving along.

Such things are just on sides of houses.

That building, far ahead, is the Saint Peter's Cathedral. Not Italy, different country, Vatican.

Different kinds of ruins in downtown Rome are pretty much everywhere.

This is Rome from a little up above.

There is also subway here.
